“…This proposal is not an attempt to integrate something, and even less one of camouflage of a portal that is intended to reflect the uniqueness of a historic will, namely the realisation of the longest tunnel of the world.
A ten million francs project..My proposal to regard the sculptural interpretation together with a certain simplification of the area formally as just a concept idea seek to make the place readable. A place, enclosed by mountains, where man has always been confronted with the need to move: footpaths, roads, the motorway, the railways, streams, and canalised rivers document this, right back to the old times with the presence of the fragment of a mule track, probably from the XVIth century…”
